One tomato, two tomato, three tomato, POMODORO!
One of the biggest benefits of being a Virtual Assistant is the freedom you have to design your days in what ever way you desire. It also generally means you get to work from the comfort of your home, in your lulus, and without makeup on...winning!! Here's the thing...sometimes I find it REALLY hard to stay motivated and concentrated. Do you also become easily distracted by the laundry that needs to be done, or the fact that Ellen is on at 3PM and her guest is Gerard Butler?!
When I first started my VA business I read ALL the books on how to eliminate distractions and increase my focus, so that I could be as efficient as possible. After every book I found myself utilizing the same method... the Pomodoro Technique. No, I'm not talking about the delicious fruit!
The Pomodoro Technique is a time management method that can be used with any type of task. This process helps you work with WITH TIME rather than against it! Here's how it works:
Choose a task or tasks from your to-do list.
Set a timer for between 25 and 60 minutes (personally I like 40 minutes).
Work until the timer goes off on those chosen tasks.
Take a short 5 minute break where you stretch and get a drink of water or coffee, etc.
Pick the next set of tasks, start a new timer, repeat through the work day.
This method allows me to time block my days, remain focused on the chosen task(s), and be as efficient and effective as possible.
Ok your turn, try it for yourself and watch as your productivity and efficiency skyrockets!
Sending you heaps of love and abundant vibes!
